ARP TOOLKIT
The Avatar Research Platform (ARP) Toolkit developed at UEA provides functionality for the creation and animation of avatars.
AUTOMATED ASSESSMENT - OCR
A project working closely with one of the UKs leading professional awarding bodies, OCR Examinations, to develop automated assessment technologies capable of supporting well established professional examination schemes for IT skills.
MEDICAL SIMULATION USING HAPTICS
Technology to train surgeons to perform medical procedures, using haptic devices linked to a computer that simulates the medical procedure.
PERCEPTUAL PROCESSING
Software developed at the UEA that uses knowledge of human perception of images to correct bad exposure of digital photographs.
RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE DATABASE
A database for the long-term monitoring of patients being treated for RA with the biologic response modifiers (or 'biologics') Enbrel, Infliximab, Anakinra and Adalimumab has been developed at the Rheumatology department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
TESSA - TEXT AND SIGN SUPPORT ASSISTANT
TESSA, the TExt and Sign Support Assistant has been developed at UEA to meet the needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Developed in collaboration with the UK Post Office, the system combines speech recognition technology and state of the art virtual human animation to enable Post Office workers to communicate with deaf customers.
TURNING COLOUR INTO BLACK AND WHITE
At the University of East Anglia we have developed a new way to change colour into grey scale such that details are preserved. The method is not a simple tone adjustment but rather is a computational strategy that delivers grey scales that preserve contrast relationships.
URBAN MODELLING
Our cutting edge software and modelling techniques create still images and interactive flythroughs quickly and cost effectively; suitable for a variety of uses from illustrating planning applications and redevelopment opportunities to education and tourism.
VANESSA - VOICE ACTIVATED NETWORK ENABLED SPEECH TO SIGN AS...
VANESSA - the Voice Activated Network Enabled Speech to Sign Assistant - facilitates communication between assistants and their deaf clients in UK Council Information Centres (CICs) or similar environments.
VIDEO-REALISTIC SPEECH VISUALISATION
A new hybrid speech visualization technique has been developed at the University of East Anglia based upon appearance models, which can be used to create almost video-realistic sequences of a talking face enunciating arbitrary phrases.
VOLUME RENDERING – 3DVIEW SOFTWARE
As part of a joint initiative we have developed a PC-based volume rendering application, called 3DView. The application uses 2D or 3D textures to render volumetric data, for example from CT or MR scans.
